Greening finance together
Partnering with financial institutions to accelerate transition
Financial institutions have power to influence the companies they own, finance, insure and invest in, supporting a transition to resilient, nature-positive, net zero business models.

That’s why we have partnerships with more than 170 financial institutions designed to shift companies, markets and sectors toward more sustainability.

And over the past five years, we have helped mobilise more than $1 billion in private capital for activities in the real economy that benefit people, communities and nature.

We do this through initiatives as diverse as the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DCFD) which enables private sector investment in climate adaptation and mitigation projects, the RobecoSAM Biodiversity Equities Fund which invests in sustainable natural resource use, and Herencia Colombia which funds iconic Colombian land and seascapes. Supporting disclosure

Our collaboration with insurer Axa on Into the Wild, a report on integrating nature into investment strategies, led to the creation of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) whose reporting recommendations have now been adopted by over 500 companies with $17.7 trillion in assets under management. These enable companies and financial institutions to disclose nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, and will help shift global financial flows toward nature-positive outcomes.

Forging nature-positive pathways

Our partnership with Aviva helped make the case for the development of government-endorsed nature-positive sectoral pathways, so that the private sector and government can tackle the nature emergency together.

Monitoring biodiversity in the dairy sector

Our past collaboration with Rabobank, dairy company FrieslandCampina, and the dairy industry in the Netherlands supported the development of the Biodiversity Monitor. This provides dairy farmers with insights into the value-add for their business of preserving nature and the environment, including access to lower interest rate loans based on sustainability performance.
