WWF Climate Business Network

Working with global businesses to drive the transition to a net-zero economy

Inspiring bold climate action towards a 1.5°C and net-zero future

At WWF, we work with companies that recognise the benefits of taking action on climate change and are prepared to take the steps needed to cut emissions throughout their value chain. The WWF Climate Business Network supports businesses on their path to align with a 1.5°C world and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Companies across diverse sectors and at different stages on the road to net-zero can join the Network to rapidly advance their corporate climate ambition, cut emissions from their own operations and throughout their supply chain, and add their voice to drive strong climate policy. The companies taking the most ambitious action are named WWF Climate Savers - the highest level of the Network.

The goal of the Climate Business Network is to broaden corporate participation in the effort to tackle climate change: it aims to encourage and support companies at every stage of their climate change mitigation journey, demonstrating that climate action is vital, achievable, practical and compatible with corporate growth.

Climate Savers

The Climate Business Network partners with the most ambitious and intensive climate change strategies

Climate Business Network members that meet exacting criteria for climate action will be named as Climate Savers. These companies will have demonstrated leadership by setting and acting on climate targets aligned with a 1.5°C future and advocating for ambitious climate policies.

Companies in this higher tier of the Network are entitled to use the Climate Savers logo and benefit from enhanced opportunities of engagement and communication.

To qualify for the Climate Savers tier, companies need to:

  • Have a 1.5°C-aligned target approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
  • Publicly disclose their climate targets and progress toward those targets, preferably with disclosures verified by a third party
  • Be strong public advocates of ambitious climate actions and policies that enable the transition towards a low-carbon economy

The Climate Savers tier of the Climate Business Network is an evolution of the WWF Climate Savers programme, which has been in place since 1999. We are encouraging partners in the Climate Savers programme to transition to the new Network, and allowing them time to meet the new Climate Savers criteria.

Climate Business Network benefits

The Network allows WWF partner companies from around the world to connect and engage with other business leaders and WWF experts to gain the knowledge and guidance needed to take credible, ambitious climate action.

It aims to leverage WWF’s unique expertise in climate, energy, forests, food systems, oceans and wildlife to help Network members accelerate climate action. Partners enjoy access to shared resources and can connect with each other and WWF teams, helping them to develop sector-leading climate strategies. From regular webinars on key topics to working groups and an annual summit, Network members will be able to learn and gain the support needed on their journey to net-zero.

The Climate Business Network offers:

Join the Climate Business Network

Contact Us
The Network is open to companies that are committed to reducing their emissions. This includes companies that are already taking robust climate action as well as those that are beginning their journey and want help and support to increase their ambition.

If your business sees the opportunities in being part of the solution on climate change and is interested in partnering with WWF and joining the Climate Business Network to accelerate your journey, contact us. The process begins with a consultation where we explore what a partnership would involve and identify the opportunities for WWF to support your business to drive meaningful climate action.

What climate action should members take?

Climate Business Network members are encouraged, within 12 months of joining, to measure and report on their direct emissions and begin to track the emissions in their supply chain for which they are responsible.

They are encouraged to set ambitious emission reductions targets in line with climate science by committing to the Science Based Targets initiative and they should, within three years, begin mitigating emissions, disclosing progress, and working to promote policies and lobbying in support of a net-zero future.
