WWF is building a strong profile for ocean conservation by convincing decision makers of the ocean’s relevance to core sustainable development agendas. The reports, Reviving the Ocean Economy, Marine Protected Areas: Smart Investments in Ocean Health, and the Living Blue Planet Report – a marine edition of WWF’s Living PlanetReport – attracted outstanding global media attention. From BBC to Xinhua, Al Jazeera to CCN and the major wires, Twitter and Facebook, the reports made big splashes. Since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals in September, the campaign has emphasized the need for investment and political will to successfully implement goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.
