WWF statement on CITES discussion on pangolins

Illegal trade continues to pose a threat to all pangolin species and robust action is needed.
In response to CITES discussion on pangolins, WWF issued a statement from Paul De Ornellas, Senior Policy Advisor:
"Despite having the strongest protections under CITES, illegal trade continues to pose a threat to all pangolin species and this year we have seen record-breaking amounts of pangolin meat and scales seized by law enforcers. The debate at the CoP shows that Parties at CITES recognise the crisis facing this species. We now need to see that concern translate into robust action if we are to secure a future for pangolins”
