The opening of an exhibition of Armenian stunning nature took place at the German Embassy of RA on November 26, 2015. It has been presented by WWF-Armenia and organised in the framework of German Embassy’s “Art+X” series of exhibitions.

The exhibition featuring 40 photos and being printed on FSC-certified wood and linen will remain on view for 3 months. This unique collection captures the colors of Armenian flora, the real treasures of Armenian fauna, Armenian hospitality and cultural heritage.

Each photo of this outstanding collection tells its own story, as they are all from the areas where WWF-Armenia implements environmental projects with German financial support. Some of the photos are real wild nature scenes in action, others are static shots, but all are special.

The event was opened by Mr. Matthias Kiesler, German Ambassador in Armenia, Dr. Karen Manvelyan, director of WWF-Armenia and Mr. Matthias Lichtenberger, Caucasus Program Officer in WWF-Germany. All 3 speakers mentioned the importance of Caucasus biodiversity and its conservation, the purpose of an exhibition-auction, the role of cooperation between the countries and encouraged participants to bid actively for the presented photo collection.

More than 150 guests were invited from different international and local corporate organizations, embassies, delegations and ministries. They all had a chance to bid for 10 photos at a silent auction. The rest 30 photos will be presented and sold at an auction organised at the closing ceremony of the exhibition. The whole revenue of the auction, which was being organized by WWF-Armenia first time, will be transferred to Gnishik Protected Landscape and its needs. This community-managed protected area is one of the pearls of Armenian nature. 

The exhibition was held in a very warm and friendly atmosphere where all the guests had a nice time talking to each other and enjoying glass of Armenian wine and reception. The guests are really impressed. Those who could gain photos during the auction were the most excited as they could take a piece of Armenian beautiful nature with them.
