World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Manager, Renewable Thermal Collaborative. The Manager, Renewable Thermal Collaborative (Manager) leads WWF’s strategic and technical work under the Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC), a multi-stakeholder platform launched in September, 2017 as a project of the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance and a joint initiative of WWF, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and David Gardiner and Associates. The RTC is the leading coalition for organizations committed to scaling up renewable heating and cooling at their facilities and dramatically cutting carbon emissions. 

Many large buyers (corporations, cities, education institutions, etc.) with large thermal loads are increasingly looking to renewable thermal solutions, just as they have been seeking renewable electricity solutions. However, renewable thermal solutions are far less commercially developed. The RTC is seeking to advance and clarify a menu of solutions. Within the RTC, the Manager will lead WWF’s work to deepen the RTC coalition’s strategy to develop buyer focused solutions, particularly around biomass and bioenergy. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise on bioenergy because it is an important but complicated solution for renewable thermal energy. Experience with and knowledge of other renewable thermal solutions is a plus. 

1. Strategy & Planning for the RTC: Ensures effective development and execution of a joint vision, strategy and work plans for building out the RTC’s work and membership, in collaboration with other supporting organizations of the RTC and existing RTC corporate members.
2. Advancing WWF and RTC Thought Leadership: The Manager uses her/his deep expertise on the impacts and accounting of biomass and bioenergy use on climate change to drive WWF and RTC thought-leadership on these issues with key audiences through research and writing, media engagement, stakeholder dialogues and discussions with policy makers.
3. Relationship Management: The Manager leads WWF’s partnership role within the RTC and recruits and manages relationships with companies and cities that are members of the RTC. The Manager builds and manages the RTC coalition of cities and companies around a technical, action-oriented agenda.
4. Fundraising & Budget: In cooperation with the WWFUS Development Team and the Private Sector Engagement Team, the Manager identifies funding opportunities from RTC donors and members, cultivates opportunities, and prepares funding proposals and reports to donors, including joint funding proposals with RTC partners. She/he manages dues from RTC members and the WWF portion of the budget for the RTC initiative.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Must have at least 8 years of relevant work experience and strong familiarity with biomass, bioenergy and other renewable thermal technologies and solutions and organizations working on those solutions; 
2. Must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in fields such as  environmental studies, forestry, or business. A advanced degree in these areas of study is preferred.
3. Experience working within or managing multi-stakeholder processes is desired

Additional Skills/Abilities

• Strong technical understanding of bioenergy sustainability issues – understanding of the emissions profile compared to fossil fuels, various accounting methodologies and considerations, and sustainability issues for bioenergy feedstocks and supply chain.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant accounting and sustainability standards for biomass and bioenergy
• Knowledge of and connections to groups/companies/organizations that can advance renewable thermal solutions
• Relationships with key players on bioenergy accounting and policy standards
• Experience developing and managing corporate relationships
• Strong coalition building and management skills
• Excellent independent execution and follow-through
• Able to accurately plan and manage a sub-program, including budget.
• Communicates clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including ability to convey complex information simply to corporate, policy and other audiences.
• Familiarity with trade-offs between natural gas for heating and cooling and renewable alternatives, including electrification preferred
• Knowledge of a variety of potential solutions for meeting renewable thermal needs, including geothermal, solar thermal, RNG, electrification, etc. preferred
