Increasing the value of living alongside big cats is vital if people and big cats are to go from surviving to thriving. One way the Living with Big Cats Initiative has been working towards this objective is to support the development of Wildlife Credits. This approach, pioneered by WWF Namibia, focuses on co-designing conservation strategies with communities in corridors of high conservation importance for priority species, and ensuring community members are supported directly for their efforts through a performance payment model. This also links to ongoing Biodiversity Credit work contributing towards the Global Biodiversity Framework Target 19.
