Juan Camilo Cárdenas is the Director of the Center of the Sustainable Development Goals of Latin America and the Caribbean and a Professor at the University de Los Andes, (Colombia) since 2004, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, (USA) since 2001.
He has a Ph.D. in Resource Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (1999) and a BS in Industrial Engineering.
Juan-Camilo is a member of the Earth Commission. He uses tools from behavioural and experimental economics in the lab and the field, surveys and participatory tools to understand the human processes affected by inequality, formal and informal institutions and the challenges to achieve diversity and cooperation within groups.
His past work has focused on local and global environmental justice and policy that focuses on the rights of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities.
He has been involved in programmes related to multi-racial communities, minorities, and inequality incentives.
In addition, he has an extensive understanding of inclusive conservation issues in Latin America.
Juan Camilo resides in Bogota, and sits on the Board of WWF-Colombia.
