As every year, the WWF team in the Manambolo Tsiribihina land and seascape organizes mangrove reforestation campaigns. Last October, 167 community members, mostly schoolchildren, were able to plant 16,090 propagules in Ambato sur mer.

In the crowd, a girl stands out from all, Rosine, 13 years. She was bursting with energy compared to her classmates. Very young and already involved in the protection of mangroves. "We are taught at school that the mangrove protects our village from erosion, flooding, and also houses small fish and crabs. It seems that their life depends on it, "she says with conviction.

Her words are the results of environmental education in her school. Established in 2015 between WWF and the Ministry of Education, environmental education has been included in the school curriculum to highlight the importance of environmental protection to primary and secondary school children.

«As for me to restore was just to have fun with my friends, but now I take that as a duty. That's what we learn at school. She continues. Rosine is living proof of the results of this conservation strategy.
