A UN climate impact report prepared by the world’s leading scientific authorities in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has given clear evidence that the Earth is in deep trouble, showing that climate change is real and happening now, and is affecting the lives and livelihoods of people worldwide as well as the sensitive ecosystems that sustain life. Released in March, this is the second of four IPCC reports updating scientific understanding of climate change, and focused on the impacts and vulnerability of human and natural systems, future risks and impacts of climate change. The report sets out two clear choices: cut emissions and face challenging and barely manageable risks or do nothing and face a world of devastating risks and impacts.
