Tokyo, Japan – A new WWF report shows that Japan can reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector 20 per cent by 2020 compared to 2000 emissions by switching to energy efficiency and renewable enegy sources.

The report, Carbon Dioxide Emissions Reduction Potential in Japan’s Power Sector — Estimating Carbon Emissions Avoided by a Fuel-Switch Scenario, is a simulation commissioned by WWF-Japan and conducted by 4 researchers from Japan and the US led by Dr Masami Nakata, Research Associate, and Dr David von Hippel, Senior Research Associate of the Nautilus Institute for Security and Sustainable Development of the USA.
