On 29th July, some 60 villagers along with students and forest officials gathered to commemorate the Global Tiger Day in Trongsa. Organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, WWF and IFAW, the day saw a renewed sense of commitment for tiger conservation efforts from the community.

Although the community has witnessed few incidents of Human Wildlife Conflicts in the recent past, there have not been any reported retaliatory killings. There have also been reports of tigers roaming freely outside of the protected area. 

Dasho Paljor J. Dorji, Deputy Minister and Senior Advisor to the National Environment Commission graced the occasion by stressing community vitality in tiger conservation efforts. The day-long activity was celebrated with various activities under the theme, “Tiger and Community co-exist in harmony for mutual survival.”
