Held in Jakarta against the vibrant backdrop of the Borneo Festival in the lead up to Earthday, the 3-day Heart of Borneo Forum (April 18-20) aims to provide a clear understanding amongst stakeholders that ecosystems and biodiversity are a necessary foundation to sustain a lasting future economy.

Representatives from economics, policy and finance will come together to showcase the tangible steps being taken to create a green economy based on the natural, economy and social values of the Heart of Borneo.

The Forum will present a robust and objective multi-stakeholder examination of critical issues affecting the future of forests, ecosystems and biodiversity in the Heart of Borneo such as:

• Why and how are forests, ecosystems and biodiversity important to an economy?
• What ecosystem services do businesses and societies depend upon?
• What kind of leadership and collaboration in the HoB is needed to secure ecosystem services that forests provide?
• How can business take the lead in reducing their ecological footprint and catalyzing a prosperous and profitable future green economy?
• How can youth contribute to developing, leading and securing a more sustainable future?

The Forum will also advance commitments to showcase the Heart of Borneo at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (also known as the Rio +20) in Brazil, June 2012.
