Congratulations to Nyoman Iswarayoga and Indiani Saptiningsih from Indonesia, and Diana Anthony from Malaysia for completing our recent HoB newsletter survey and sharing their thoughts on the future content of our newsletter.

As a sign of appreciation, these three winners, selected randomly, will receive a book titled Orang-Utans: Behaviour Ecology and Conservation, authored by Junaidi Payne and Cede Prudente. Thank you to Nyoman, Inidiani and Diana, and everyone else who took the time to fill in our questionnaire. We value your thoughts and have acted on them.

Background to the survey

Innovative technological advancements today offer us such a wide variety of ways in which we can circulate information. As internal discussions mounted on how we could improve on providing information about the Heart of Borneo, we decided to turn to you, our readers, for your feedback. A quick survey was conducted when our last Heart of Borneo newsletter was circulated in March this year. The survey was sent to numerous internal stakeholders (our very own WWF staff), as well as a range of external stakeholders from school and university students, to government personnel and individual supporters.

The Results

A review of the results showed us that although our current frequency is on a quarterly basis, a near majority (47%) favoured receiving even more regular (bi -monthly) updates, something that may be considered at a later stage. We were happy to learn that 79% of respondents keep our newsletters as a resource.

Although the majority stated preference in receiving newsletters as PDF attachments, once explanation was provided on what an electronic newsletter actually is, an overwhelming majority (92.3%) stated appreciation for this format. In particular, the availability of links to a variety of content (be it articles or multi-media resources) was considered a strong plus side of electronic newsletters.

With 80% giving us the confidence that a change to an electronic newsletter is a positive one, we are now proud to present to you our new and improved Heart of Borneo newsletter. This new format allows us to bring you the latest news on the Heart of Borneo in a user friendly way.

WE hope you will enjoy the new format and as ever, we welcome constructive feedback at any time

Happy Reading!
