The IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 is a landmark global forum on protected areas. The Congress will share knowledge and innovation, setting the agenda for protected areas conservation for the decade that is ahead of us.
Building on the theme "Parks, people, planet: inspiring solutions", the event will present, discuss and create original approaches for conservation and development, helping to address the gap in the conservation and sustainable development agenda -- including for the Coral Triangle.

With a legacy of collaboration and innovation dating back to the inaugural event in 1961, this World Parks Congress promises to build a dynamic foundation for achieving conservation and development goals for the decade to come.
WWF at the World Parks Congress
WWF will be participating in the World Parks Congress to continue influencing decision-makers to consider marine conservation as part of their development agenda by demonstrating that marine protection – if design, management, stakeholder engagement, and enforcement are done in the right way - can generate socio-economic benefits, food security, and a boost to livelihoods.Through a number of side events, WWF and partners will share practical knowledge with the broader community of practitioners, donors, government agencies and the private sector, on Marine Protected Area (MPA) establishment and management and seek to improve practices and stimulate multi-stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
WWF Coral Triangle Programme at the World Parks Congress
With the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF), Coral Triangle Development Partners, and the Australian government, the WWF Coral Triangle Programme is co-organizing a side event that will bring together representatives from the Coral Triangle community and beyond to showcase the CTI-CFF, celebrate its achievements and highlight future directions and new commitments.It will create space to reflect on progress in marine conservation since the creation of CTI-CFF for the benefit of biodiversity and people, including the Coral Triangle Marine Protected Areas System and its flagship MPAs and Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management.
