In June 2014, two meetings with the local communities were organized in Agsu and Yevlakh towns within the frame of “EU ENRTP - Increasing the resilience of forest ecosystems against climate change in the South Caucasus Countries through forest transformation” project. The project is implemented by WWF-Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and aims to increase the resilience of forest ecosystems against climate change in the South Caucasus, enrich the biodiversity and enhance the livelihoods of the local population. The meetings were attended by local communities, local forest administrations and media representatives. The goal of the meetings was to inform the local communities about the objectivies and activities of the project, raise their awareness on possible impacts of the climate change on forests and also envolve them in practical activities on forest transformation measures in their areas. The director of WWF-Azerbaijan informed about the project, how climate change can impact the forests, which role play forests and what type of measures people should take to soften the impacts of climate change.
Different comminication materials have been disseminated among local population at the end of the meetings.
