Greetings from Heart of Borneo! Today we are celebrating a very important event for all of us, the World Environment Day! A moment for us to remind ourselves on the importance to always keep our environment healthy, to conserve our forests and to use our limited natural resources sustainably. This edition will feature our efforts in collecting right and accurate information on elephant population. The data and information obtained will be an important basis for our Borneo Elephant conservation efforts. 

As an update, a recent study shows that that nearly 150,000 Bornean orangutans have been lost over a 16-year period between 1999 and 2015. The current estimation of orangutan population is between 100,000 to 148,000. Their population is declining due to their habitat loss caused by unsustainable logging, land clearing and mining activities.  This fact shows us the importance of collective action by working together to conserve the forests and wildlife habitat as conservation efforts which not only for biodiversity, but also to save human’s life.

There are a lot of things that we can do together to save mother earth, for example by actively taking part in conserving our environment. Heart of Borneo is one of the last place on earth that we expect to continuously provide benefits to us, as well as remain as home for our forest and the biodiversity in it.
