On November 11, 2014 the National Advisory Group meeting of the Promoting Sustainable Dam Development at River-Basin-Scale in the Southern Caucasus Project was held in Yerevan, Armenia.  The project is funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by WWF in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
 
Besides the Project Advisory  Group’s members (the representatives of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection, RA Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, RA Ministry of Territorial Administration, Public Service Regulatory Commission, multilateral banks and international organizations), the meeting was attended by other participants such as the representatives from other state entities, NGO’s working in hydropower sector, universities, etc. 
 
During the meeting the project staff presented the progress of the project including the maps on freshwater key biodiversity areas, affected by small hydropower plants. Also, results of the studies on “Assessment of Fresh Water Ecosystem Services in the Hydropower Sector in the Kura-Aras River Basin in Armenia” and “Sustainable Hydropower Assessment and Planning” carried out within the project were presented. This studies and maps shall highly contribute in transferring of the global experience and reforms in the field of development of small hydropower plants projects in Armenia.
 
During the meeting the productive dialogues took place, which resulted in rising of a number of constructive suggestion and recommendation to be included in the studies and mapping processes. Moreover, the practical next steps and conceptual directions of the future phases of the project were proposed.
