Increasing the resilience of forest ecosystems against climate change in the Southern Caucasus

The events for high level officials were organized in Agsu and Yevlakh towns within EU funded regional project "Increasing the Resilience of Forest Ecosystems against Climate Change in the Southern Caucasus through Forest Transformation".
On 12-13 November 2013, the events for high level officials were organized in Agsu and Yevlakh towns within EU funded regional project "Increasing the Resilience of Forest Ecosystems against Climate Change in the Southern Caucasus through Forest Transformation". The project is implemented by WWF Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and aimed to increase the resilience of forest ecosystems against climate change in the South Caucasus, enrich the biodiversity and the livelihoods of the local population.

The representatives of local governement autorities, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, local forest administrations, Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, NGOs, local media and TV channels attended the events. The goal of the meetings was to inform the local communities, NGOs and local governement autorities about the objectivies and activities of the project, raise their awareness in impacts of the climate change on forests and also exchange the experience in forest transformation measures.

Also representatives from WWF Caucasus and WWF Germany took part in the meetings and shared their experiences in forest transformation measures and other related issues in their countries. After the meetings the participants joined the tree planting campaings in both – Agsu and Yevlakh project sites.
