:::The panda fights back:::

Posted on June, 08 2005

The giant panda that has for so long been on the brink of extinction is fighting back. In the mountains of southwest China, new technology combined with original community and business schemes are all contributing to panda protection.
Last year there was good news for panda lovers.

A survey carried out by WWF and the Chinese authorities showed 1,600 pandas are left in the wild, over 40% more than previously thought.

WWF is working with local communities and business to ensure that population remains stable.
