Selbe river area registered as a Natural Reserve

The heads of the Citizens Representative Khural discussed the petition and made an announcement to register the total area of 2.071.5 hectares of Selbe River in Sukhbaatar District as a Natural Reserve and ordered the City Major`s office to take control over the protection.
A petition to have a total of 2.071.5 hectares of the Selbe river area registered as a Natural Reserve by the Head of Environmental Protection Agency, G.Bolormaa, was presented Citizens Representative Khural. The Selbe River is situated in the southern Khentii Mountains and is at 1510-1620 m above sea level. A total area of 342.2 km square of the Selbe River is located in the most populated area with ger districts. The soil contamination levels of the river are lower from north to south, meaning the river pollution levels rise as it becomes closer to the city centre.
