This experience was the seed for future projects in Nicaragua, Australia and most recently in Bolivia. Its creators are Garry Olson and Peter Toaig, who in 1998, when a 170 year old Oak had fallen in a park, promoted an ambitious Project that demonstrated the economic and cultural value of trees in current society and would also be the showcase for the creativity of English artists and artisans. The Project in Nicaragua was only recently developed with support from WWF Central America, as well as from the initiative Simplemente Madera (Simply Wood), a private company dedicated to the design of wood products. Seventy participants were invited to the Project in Nicaragua, ranging from artists, artisans, cabinet makers and manufacturers in wood to use an entire tree that had been felled in the community of Layasiksa.

In addition, a children's story book was published "Cuando la Tierra se estaba quedando sin árboles" (in English: The day the Earth was being left without trees), as well as a catalogue with Project documentation and an exhibit given in Managua, which was visited by schools and also where the pieces produced were sold.
