It aims to help resolve crises and conflicts in a peaceful manner, to help ensure that scarce resources are more equitably shared, and that our environment is preserved for coming generations and to help reduce global poverty.

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety was established on June 6, 1986 in response to the Chernobyl disaster. The Federal Government wanted to combine environmental authority under a new minister in order to face new environmental challenges more effectively. Prior to this responsibilities for environmental issues were distributed among the ministries of the Interior, Agriculture and Health.

The European Union is the world’s largest donor of official development assistance. EuropeAid Development and Cooperation, a Directorate General of the European Commission, is responsible for designing European development policy and delivering aid throughout the world. EuropeAid delivers aid through a set of financial instruments with a focus on ensuring the quality of EU aid and its effectiveness. An active and proactive player in the development field, we promote good governance, human and economic development and tackle universal issues, such as fighting hunger and preserving natural resources.

The Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) supports countries in Africa, Asia and Central America as well as in South Eastern and Eastern Europe in their sustainable social, economic and democratic development. The Foreign Ministry plans ADC strategies and programs. The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of ADC, implements these together with public institutions, non-governmental organizations and enterprises.

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a global program that provides funding and technical assistance to non-governmental organizations and other private sector partners to protect critical ecosystems. They focus on biodiversity hotspots, the Earth's biologically richest yet most endangered areas. As of March 2013, CEPF has provided support to more than 1,800 civil society groups working locally to conserve hotspots in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has two ministers as head of the organization. The Minister of Foreign Affairs is head of most policy areas and the administrative areas while the Minister of International Development heads the policy areas connected with international development. Some departments in the ministry thus report to both ministers.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network. It advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP operates in 177 countries, working with nations on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and its wide range of partners.

The GEF unites 183 countries in partnership with international institutions, civil society organizations and the private sector to address global environmental issues while supporting national sustainable development initiatives. Today the GEF is the largest public funder of projects to improve the global environment. An independently operating financial organization, the GEF provides grants for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants.

Dr. Luc Hoffmann established MAVA in 1994 as an expression of his long personal commitment to conservation. The foundation mostly focuses on the conservation of biodiversity. The MAVA’s philosophy has always been to work through partnerships. Since the foundation started, it has supported more than 560 projects, implemented by over 220 different organizations. These include international and local NGOs, research institutions, universities and occasionally government bodies or individuals.

IDeA Foundation was established by the entrepreneurs and philanthropists Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend. The Foundation focuses on programs which achieve tangible socioeconomic development and assist Armenia in transition from the survival model to the prosperity model.
