Science-based targets for cities, evidence-based climate action planning, the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC), and the Paris Agreement.
We guide participants on how to achieve science-based targets, and evidence-based climate action planning based on different tools designed for the OPCC.
To help concentrate ambition and catalyze action, the OPCC supports participating cities to show that they have science-based emission reduction targets that align with a 1.5 °C future and are supported by evidence-based climate action planning.
In 2015, the Paris Agreement brought together nearly 200 nations in a joint commitment to reduce GHG emissions. The aim was to limit global temperature increase to well-below 2.0 ºC and endeavor to limit warming to 1.5 °C rise.
