About me

I was born and raised in Canada -- in the land-locked city of Toronto. It wasn't until 2012 that I severed my umbilical cord to this city and moved to the Canadian east coast for graduate studies. It was here that I found my passion for the ocean.

Upon graduation, I found myself very much set on the path of conservation work. As such, I worked in several capacities at WWF-Canada on projects ranging from sustainable seafood and agriculture production to conservation finance and project development. Thankfully, I had a chronic 'contract only' condition there that gave me time between contracts to apply for other positions. This led to my application and acceptance into the WWF-Global Youth Volunteer and Internship Program.

Supported by this program, I have been given the opportunity to undertake a 6 month assignment in Solomon Islands. For those geographically challenged (like myself), Solomon Islands is in the Pacific Ocean close to Papua New Guinea and Australia. Out of the WWF Gizo office, I will be assisting with on-going marine projects, grant proposals, and the development of new concepts and ideas for marine conservation in the Pacific.

I will be using this blog to share stories of my work and personal experiences while in Solomon Islands (see links to the right). Or rather, it will be used to update my family and friends in wintery Canada. So, enjoy!
