Eight of the Global 200 ecoregions - regions identified by WWF as globally important and in need of immediate conservation - fall within Argentine territory: Atlantic Forests, Central Andean Dry Puna, Central Andean Yungas, High Andean Lakes, Patagonian Southwest Atlantic, Patagonian Steppe, Upper Paraná Rivers and Streams, and Valdivian Temperate Rainforests / Juan Fernandez Islands.
WWF is currently concentrating its efforts in the Atlantic Forests, Patagonian Southwest Atlantic, and Valdivian Temperate Rainforests / Juan Fernandez Islands ecoregions.
