WWF welcomes financial and regulatory expert David Barnes to its International Board

 

Gland, Switzerland (7 April 2025): WWF International is delighted to welcome the financial expert and Treasurer of WWF-UK, David Barnes, to its International Board of Trustees.  

 

David Barnes has been a member of the Board of Trustees of WWF-UK since October 2022. David chairs WWF-UK’s Finance & Business Committee and is also a member of the Audit and Investments Committees.

 

Prior to joining WWF-UK, David was the Global Head of Regulatory and Public Policy at

Deloitte, where he was responsible for the firm’s relationship with a broad range of stakeholders and regularly attended Global Board and Global Executive meetings. Previously David held roles on the Executive and Board of Deloitte in the UK and was the chair of Deloitte in Switzerland. He retired from Deloitte in May 2023.

David is a skilled financial professional with extensive boardroom experience and a track record of handling complex regulatory issues in the UK, EU and globally. I am confident that David’s extensive audit, advisory and accountancy experience coupled with his deep knowledge and interest in sustainability and ESG will make him a valuable addition to the international board. As a long-time supporter of WWF, David is enthusiastic about delivering WWF’s mission to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature and I look forward to working closely together.”  

David Barnes said: “I am extremely excited and humbled to be joining the WWF International Board of Trustees. WWF is a hugely inspiring organization that works with others to address some of the most urgent issues facing the planet, such as biodiversity loss and climate change.”

David Barnes took up his position on 21 February 2025 for a term of four years.
