Book your time to take part in our conference on sustainable tourism management in protected areas and Natura 2000 sites! Conference will take place from 22nd to 24th of October this year in Opatija, Croatia, organized within the Interreg project “Central Europe Eco-Tourism: tools for nature protection (CEETO)
Representatives of decision makers on the national level and agencies in the field of nature protection and tourism, managers of protected areas and Natura 2000 sites, project partners and other experts whose participation is expected at the conference, will have the opportunity to hear about the most successful measures of reducing the negative impact of tourist visits in protected areas and Natura 2000 sites. There will be a discussion about the establishment of high-quality multi-sectoral cooperation in each area in order to preserve nature as a foundation for social and economic growth.
A visit to the Visitor center and the griffon vulture rehabilitation center Beli is planned. Beli is great example of good practice of cooperation in raising visitor and public awareness of the importance of protected nature values, and the orientation of tourist visits. The conference is a chance to meet CEETO network members, that was established earlier this year. The network enables collaboration and networking of professionals and protected areas in Central Europe with the goal of sharing knowledge and practices in the development, implementation and promotion of sustainable tourism management.
CEETO project is co-founded by the European regional development fund under the Interreg Central Europe program. During the project, pilot activities are carried out to test tools and methods for managing tourist visits and sustainable use of natural resources in several protected and Natura 2000 areas in Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia.
