CDP-WWF Temperature Scoring Methodology

Posted on September, 12 2024

CDP and WWF present an updated Temperature Scoring Methodology - the method that helps corporates and financial institutions assess their climate ambition and alignment with the Paris Agreement.
The CDP-WWF methodology translates climate targets into one clear and comparable metric - a temperature score expressed in degrees Celsius of global warming, based on the latest IPCC scenarios.

The metric helps professionals understand how well the climate ambition of a company, a company’s value chain, or a financial portfolio is aligned with the Paris Agreement. It also supports integration of climate ambition into daily investment processes.

The main changes and improvements to version 1.5 focus on using the IPCC's AR6 climate model scenarios for linear regression models, clarifications and further transparency on the methodology’s purpose, rationales, and key limitations.

Check out the updated methodology HERE.

The updated methodology comes following an extensive public consultation on an initial version earlier this year.
