Colombia, Germany, Norway and the UK step up efforts to reduce deforestation in Colombia: WWF responds

Madrid, December 11, 2019 - Today at COP25, Colombia, Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom signed a joint declaration to extend their climate and forest cooperation until 2025. Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom will contribute up to 360 million USD to help Colombia reach its targets. 

In response to the news, Ximena Barrera Rey, Government Relations and International Affairs Director at WWF-Colombia said: "Today is an important day not only for Colombia, but for the whole planet. We are now more conscious than ever of the crucial role forests play in the climate change agenda. The announcements made today by Colombia, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom, to extend climate and forest cooperation until 2025, is a leading example for the region and the world. From WWF, we would like to express all our support and engagement in this initiative.”
