Conservation Summary Since 2000
This brochure summarizes the main findings of the Leopard Conservation project in the South Caucasus.
Identified as one of the top priority species by the Ecoregional Conservation Plan(ECP), the status of the highly endangered Leopard(Panthera pardus) is significantly improved in the Eastern Lesser Caucasus. Even though the Leopard population is still vulnerable, the latest data proves that it maintains stability and has a good reproductive potential. Fortunately, the WWF’s project on Leopard conservation in the Caucasus is long-lasting: started in the early 2000s, with the support of WWF-Switzerland and WWF-Germany it successfully continues.
