Livestock farmers as forest allies
WWF's Inspiring Practices are designed to share forest and climate lessons learned, so that they may be replicated or adapted as appropriate by others for their own forest and climate related work. This Inspiring Practice describes a pilot program that engaged livestock farmers in the Amazonian province of Tahuamanu to identify and implement best practices in livestock management to increase productivity and decrease ecological impact. The goal was to strengthen local capacities for sustainable land use, reduce deforestation rates, and prepare to scale the effort in this agricultural frontier region.
