Sir Andrew Cahn was the former Chair of WWF-UK from 2014 until June 2020.
Andrew spent most of his career in the public service, working in the European Commission where he was part of the team that created the Single Market and was chief of staff of the Vice President, Neil Kinnock; and in London where he worked in the Foreign Office, the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Agriculture. He was involved in negotiating the UNLOSC, Biodiversity Convention, Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention, the North Atlantic Salmon Convention and others. He was for five years the CEO of UK Trade and Investment, during which time he was on the management Boards of both the Foreign Office and the Business Department.
Andrew has been a Trustee of the Gatsby Foundation for 25 years and is also a Trustee of the Arvon Foundation, the Institute for Government and was for six years a Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew including chairing their Audit Committee. He serves on the Boards of Lloyd’s of London, Huawei Technologies(UK), and Nomura International plc.
Andrew is an enthusiastic long distance and mountain walker. He holidays in the wilderness of the Adirondacks National Park in upstate New York.
