The funds will support nature conservation
WWF-Hungary has launched an online auction for a limited edition of seven unique skateboards with real scratch and tooth marks left by the brown bears of Budakeszi Wildlife Park in Budapest. The new skateboard brand is called Designed by Nature
and was created in partnership with Hungarian high-quality handcrafted skateboard manufacturer Cirus.
To convince the two designer bears Móric and Vackor to get to “work”, the seven raw boards were first coated with honey and packed with fruit. This created the mood: the boards were scratched, bit and savaged with great generosity. Embracing the initiative of WWF-Hungary and skateboard manufacturer Cirus, the White Rabbit Entertainment Company created a visual project called Designed by Nature:
an impressive demonstration of the coolness and greatness of wildlife.
will continue until 28 June and the proceeds will support the nature conservation work of WWF-Hungary and the operating costs of Budakeszi Wildlife Park. The highest bid for a board so far is over €300.
The skateboarding society in Hungary is small, but continuously growing and impactful. Skaters appreciate a board that is rather worn and torn. This is why Cirus and WWF-Hungary let the bears scratch, bite and savage the skateboards any way they wished.
The seven skateboards can be seen on the project website
where visitors can also get acquainted with the idea and follow the story of how the boards were made: from the carpenter workshop to the teeth and clutches of the brown bears.
The bids are still on!
