WWF-PACIFIC FINALIZES EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS GRANT.

An Emergency Preparedness Grant agreement between WWF-Pacific and the Australian Governments Fiji Program Support Facility has been finalized.

The Fijian $40,000 grant is targeted towards strengthening organizational capacity in better preparing for disaster response by becoming more efficient and effective first responders during disasters.
 
The funds provided is expected to assist in the purchase of a 20 foot shipping storage container for disaster relief items, provide gender equality and social inclusion training to help staff have an inclusive approach to include women, children, people living with disability and most importantly consider diverse needs during disasters.
 
It will also assist in the purchase of safety equipment for WWF staff and volunteers during the distribution of relief items to their projects sites, facilitate in the purchase of pre-positioned non-food items and also help develop and review WWF’s Disaster Response Plan and Operational Manual.

 A total of 11 Civil Society Organisations, Government Ministries and the National Disaster Management Office  also recently finalized their grant agreements
