I met Jennifer Headly just once. I was returning to London from a business trip. I had had a long and tiring day and just happened to be sat next to her on the train journey back home. I noticed her accent and we got talking - I love Canada and I had spent some time in Toronto, close to her home town. She was telling me how excited she was about going back to Nepal - she really loved it there.

I mentioned that I sponsored a Panda and she was so pleased! I talked to her a lot about her job, comparing the compassion of it to my routine office life. I was really amazed by her vibrancy, passion and enthusiasm. She really was inspirational and made me think a lot about my life and what I was doing with it.

I could tell, even just by spending a few hours with her that she was vey special. She had a real and very apparent zest for life. She seemed so calm, confident and excited, all at the same time. I am thinking of her and send my condolences to her family. I will never forget her.

Richard Urban, London

"Too many losses of too many good people, first Steve Irwin and now these angels. They will be watching over and making sure we carry on with their most important missions. They must not die in vain."
Ingrid James, Coquitlam, BC, Canada

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"As a small financial supporter of WWF's work, I am saddened by this loss of people who only wanted to do good for our animals and our planet. When there are so many evil people who live on our planet earth and who seem to scrape through life without a scar, it really makes me wonder if there is a God out there! This really challenges my beliefs that I grew up with. Let us hope that something good will come from this horrible tragedy."
Robert Peden, Vancouver BC, Canada

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Jennifer grew up wanting to change the world, as I remember her from high school. It's a comfort to know that she, indeed, did achieve some of her dreams, and that she influenced the lives of so many - human and animal. I am filled with sadness for her loss, but so glad that I knew her, if only for a brief chapter of her short life."
Lianne (Saunders) Bouwmeester, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hope that the families of these extrordinary individuals can take some solace and comfort in knowing that these brave individuals did not die in vain. They were doing the work that they loved and the importance of this work should never be overlooked. A lot of us, myself included always talk about changes that should be done to protect the environment and its' animals, but never really have the courage to actually go out and do something."

"How few of us would actually have the strength and inner fortitude to carry out this important work. These caring individuals had that strength and I'm sure they will be blessed and rewarded in a higher place. They nor their work should ever be taken for granted or forgotten and they will live in our memories forever."
Neil Richards, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

"It’s a huge huge loss for everyone! It is more painful when you loose people whom you’ve known for quite a while. My deepest sympathies are with the bereaved families and dear ones of the departed souls. The world cries with you. They had set an example from their work and motivated many more. Dear Dr Gurung and Yeshi DD, you have and will always to be my inspiration."
Sugandha Priyadarshani Gurung, Nepal

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hope that the families recover and know that their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles, sons and daughters all were very important and will never be forgotten."
Heather Nicholson, Toronto, ON, CANADA

"I was very saddened to hear the news of the loss of the WWF members who died in the helicopter crash in Nepal. The loss of human (and any other form) of life is always a fact to regret. But in this particular case the passing away of your relatives, friends and colleagues has in my opinion another dimension in the whole process of grief."

"The nature of their work and their involvement in an organization such as the WWF, reveals to us who did not know the true nature of their character. They must have been, all of them, people full of kindness to their fellow creatures and a genuine concern to the real problem that affects all the inhabitants of this planet. Being that the permanent and ever growing attacks perpetrated on the environment by all of us human beings."

"And of course only a handful of people such as your friends, dedicate their lives in trying to repair the ever growing crimes committed against wild life all around the world. They will be missed above all by those who knew them, but the world is, I am sure, a poorer place since their passing away. But in this moment maybe one should rejoice in all the work they accomplished during their life and the legacy they left."

"And hope the awareness of human kind for the problems concerning wild life and the environment in general will continue to grow, leading to a more responsible use of natural resources and above all to more respect towards nature. I send my very deeply felt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of all those who perished."
Eduarda Costa-Ferraz from Estoril, Portugal

I worked for WWF-UK from 1996-2004 as a fundraiser. Among the campaigns I managed was one for Snow Leopards in Nepal and I received great support from Jennifer and others in the Nepal office during this campaign. I was therefore extremely saddened to hear the news from Nepal.

To lose such dedicated, passionate people who gave their all in the name of conserving this precious planet is utterly tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of all those who lost their lives. Their contribution to the work of WWF and conservation in general will not be forgotten.

To the families, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives, I extend my most sincere condolences. I have lived and worked in Arctic Alaska for many years, flying in remote areas of challenging terrain and rapidly changing weather. From time to time I too have lost colleagues and friends. Nothing I can say can offer much comfort, yet please know that you are all in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers.

Ms. Leslie Kerr, Kodiak, Alaska, USA (Member, WCPA)
