Report: Climate change and insurance – an agenda for action in the US
Hurricame Katrina on the southern coast of the USA
The insurance industry should do more to address the growing impact of climate change-induced damages, according to a new report released today. This is the first time that a major insurance company has publicly released a study of this kind in the United States. The report examines the latest scientific findings about climate change, specifically on forest fires, storms and floods, and the potential impact on the insurance industry and its customers.
The study — Climate Change and Insurance: An Agenda for Action in the United States
— is being issued by WWF and the Allianz Group, one of the largest insurance providers in the world with operations throughout the US.
