On october 27, 2016, The WWF and the Civil Society Organization Education pour le Dévelopment à Madagascar (Edema) mark a significant stage in their collaboration. Indeed, the Ministry of Education decided to integrate the 2015 jointly developed Education for Sustainable Development concept into the Malagasy educational program.

The WWF is one of the first precursors of the environmental education in Madagascar and fully participates in the environmental policy implementation since 1988.
An ESD committee was created in 2013, within the Ministry of Education. This committee is supported by Edema in its aim to provide guidance for the integration of the ESD in the educational program and reach the education Sustainable Development Goal.

The WWF welcomes the commitment of the Ministry of Education in the implementation of the concept  and supports the efforts provided by the ESD committee and Civil Society Organizations, including Edema, in accompanying such process. Educating the future generation to participate in building a harmonious society, remains the only way to ensure sustainable development.
