On December 20, 2011 key technical agreements have been reached between the WWF and Yevlakh and Shamakhi Forest Protection and Restoration Enterprises (FPRE) of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Azerbaijan Republic on transformation of monoculture forests (into resilient to climate change forest stands close to natural conditions) located respectively on the territories of the Yevlakh FPRE and Shamakhi FPRE with total are of 150 hectares.

The above arrangements have been resulted from the jointly conducted in 2011 preliminary planning activities under the EU financed Regional Project "Increasing the Resilience of Forest Ecosystems against Climate Change in the Southern Caucasus through Forest Transformation" (EU ENRTP Caucasus) implemented by WWF, and aimed to increase resilience of monoculture coniferous forest stands against climate change.
