WWF Tanzania Meets Chinese Ambassador in pursuit of cooperation in conservation

During the meeting the following were discussed and agreed on:
 Joint coordination for an Annual Elephant Walk event between WWF Tanzania and the Chinese Embassy that takes place in January each year. The possibility of jointly conducting sensitization workshops for Chinese community in Tanzania on environment, conservation and sustainable development.  And basically the two sides agreed on a more structured cooperation through identification of other platforms and areas of cooperation. The following areas were recommended to be explored for further cooperation:
a.       Timber trade
b.      Scaling up Renewable Energy uptake to local communities
c.       Integrated Resource Corridor development
d.      Wildlife conservation
e.      Sustainable TUNA fisheries
 The cooperation has been long awaited and comes in just when WWF has launched its Zero poaching campaign on Selous Game Reserve. It shines a new light on strengthening the anti-poaching campaign specifically and other conservation foot prints in Tanzania.
WWF Tanzania was represented by the Country Director Dr. Amani Ngusaru, the CBNRM Programme Coordinator Prof Hussein  Sosovele and his deputy Asukile Kajuni
