WWF Kenya has clinched the Kenya Forests Working Group (KFWG) Green Award for its outstanding work in mobilising civil society in efforts to advance forest conservation in Kenya. The award presented to the conservation organization on 28th February 2014, WWF Country Director representative Jackson Kiplagat noted that this is a great honor for good work done in partnership with other like-minded organizations.

“WWF is committed to making mother earth a better place to live in through partnerships with like-minded actors such as KWFG and the East African Wild Life Society. We are committed to inspiring fellow Kenyans towards goals that help us safeguard our remaining forests and generate new ones for the present and future sake of all Kenyans and the world at large,” said Mr. Kiplagat

KFWG Green Award is an annual award scheme where members who display exemplary performance in advancing forest conservation in line with KFWG’s objectives are acknowledged and celebrated. The award scheme was launched in 2010 with the support of the Green Africa Foundation. It had one category, with Mr. Michael Gachanja, the current Director of the East African Wildlife Society being declared winner. The scheme was revitalized in 2013 and expanded into four categories:

1. Outstanding Civil Society,
2. Best partner organization,
3. Outstanding Community Forest Association (CFA),
4. Outstanding Individual student.

KFWG lauds WWF for winning the Outstanding Civil Society organisation and its foresight and relentless effort in championing environmental conservation at all levels.
