Armenia Will Have Its Own Input in Earth Hour – Uniting People to Protect the Planet

Millions of people around the globe will unite for one hour and switch off their lights to show that they care about our living planet. Citizens, businesses and public authorities in all over the world will turn off their lights for one hour at 8:30pm at their local time.

Earth Hour 2013 will be held on Saturday March 23 at 8:30pm - 9:30pm wherever you are in the world. So save the date and keep coming back to to see the world unite to protect the planet.

“Earth Hour” is a global WWF climate change initiative. The event began in Sydney in 2007, when 2 million people switched off their lights to show their support for action on climate change. Last year Earth Hour was held at 8:30pm - 9:30pm on March 31 breaking records to cement itself as the largest voluntary action for the environment, with more than 6,950 cities and towns across 152 countries and territories taking part.

WWF Armenia together with the Ministry of Nature Protection, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Foundation, Yerevan Municipality, UNDP/GEF, HSBC Armenia, Best Western Congress Hotel, Orange Armenia, the Armenian public, business and ordinary citizens is going to participate in Earth Hour initiative by turning power down locally.
