Track casts, fecal material and pictures will continue to be collected throughout 2004. Analysis of the material gathered will be ongoing.
As of June, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) will be used to draw up outlines of forest cover and map jaguar distribution. GIS allow computer users to overlay one set of data (e.g. forest cover type) with one or more other sets of data (e.g. topography, habitats) to enable complex analyses.
The long term plan is to keep project activities and data collection going to monitor the jaguar population in time. This implies keeping the volunteer network active. It also calls for at least one person to be dedicated to pooling and analyzing the results.
