WWF has launched a bold new strategy focussing on six major goals - water, wildlife, the ocean, climate and energy, forests, and food – and key drivers of environmental problems – markets, finance and governance. To support our new strategy, we are recruiting a Head of Fundraising Operations and Business Development for our International Secretariat. An ambitious new philanthropy strategy has been developed, highlighting opportunities and approaches to new markets and segments. This key role in the WWF International Philanthropy and Development team will be responsible for leading a team to advance the Secretariat’s philanthropy and fundraising strategy and operations.

The Role:


The Head of Fundraising Operations and Business Development will work closely with the Global Fundraising Director, the Director of Philanthropy and the International team to deliver this ambitious strategy.
 
Tasks include:
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of WWF International’s philanthropy and business development strategy to ensure sustainable growth for conservation and organisational priorities.
  • Developing a segmentation and prospecting strategy and providing research and business intelligence on prospects and donor potential to inform donor portfolio planning and progression.
  • Developing and overseeing a donor and prospect marketing and communications strategy, including highest quality marketing materials and content for donors and prospects (proposals, reports, appeals, newsletters  etc.) and working closely with communications experts and proposal managers in conservation and programme office teams.
  • Contributing to stewardship and advancement, including a system for ensuring accurate, timely and high quality donor reporting and a recognition and benefits system for different supporter levels.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a successful and efficient cultivation and stewardship events and travel programme for donors and prospects
  • Overseeing database management, including development, training and support
  • Ownership of some donor and prospect relationships for new market segments and innovative channels.
  • Ensuring a monitoring and evaluation system is in place to evaluate and inform progress against the fundraising strategy, including metrics and KPIs, reporting and analysis.
  • Working with WWF network experts from the fundraising communities of practice and the Global Development Centre to establish best practices in philanthropy services and operations and encourage learning and sharing.
 

Profile:

  • Undergraduate university degree  and ideally a relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in high level fundraising or marketing, including working  with high level private sector donors (foundations, major donors or corporations)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of high level fundraising methodology including at least two of the following: prospect research, proposal and report preparation, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and donor communications
  • Minimum 5 years people management experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communicating skills in a multicultural environment
  • Understanding of or experience in all elements of donor stewardship, especially high quality content development
  • Proactive, independent and able to solve problems autonomously
  • Knowledge and experience of fundraising or CRM databases
  • Fluency in English and ideally French
