Position title: Seafood Communication Manager WWF Italy
Job location: Rome
Employment Type: Full time. The remuneration – within the budget availability of the Project – will depend on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.

The Corporate Partnerships Team plays a key role in this, by developing and managing relationships with high-profile national and multinational corporations. Our aim is to help them adopt a more sustainable approach and make a positive contribution to the environment through funding our work.
Mission:
To implement communications activities in Italy mainly addressed to the general public and consumers related to fisheries, sustainable seafood and responsible consumption. To maximize the effectiveness of the WWF network’s engagement with the private sector and draft and implement communication strategies for international partnerships in the seafood sector.
 
I.             Major Functions of the role
  • Create and develop a communication strategy and plan related to seafood projects, develop detailed events, media and social media plans (with the support of the communications department of WWF Italy).
  • Implement internal communications for the seafood projects.
  • Coordinate all crisis communications activities pertaining to seafood projects (with the WWF International media department).
 
II.            Major Duties and Responsibilities
•             Design and produce communications activities and tools (or adapt existing ones) for Italy (press releases, media and social media material, publications, articles for newsletters, web sites, videos) about seafood projects.
•             Support the production of communications tools for projects by providing content and developing materials aimed at raising awareness and engaging consumers in responsible seafood consumption.
•             Cross-check and ensure consistency of messages and contents with WWF seafood experts.
•             Liaise with journalists – in agreement and in coordination with WWF Italy Communications office –  and develop relationships with them to obtain frequent and high quality coverage according to the project objectives.
•             Negotiate media space. 
•             Prepare communications reports and analyse results to make recommendations.
•             Work with the partnership team to develop and implement the partnership's communication strategy and develop corporate communication material (including press releases, factsheets, presentations, reports).
•             Develop and maintain excellent relationships and synergies within the WWF Network, to achieve maximum co-operation.
•             Advise the marketing team regarding communication messages in the development and implementation of marketing activities related to seafood projects.
 
PROFILE
Required Qualifications:
•             A university degree as well as an in-depth understanding of communication practices.
•             At least 5 years work experience in the field of communications in an international environment in the private or NGO sector.
•             Experience with media desired.
•             Demonstrated writing and editing skills.

•             Excellent command of spoken and written Italian and English.
•             Excellent communication and diplomatic skills.
•             Ability to relate convincingly and credibly with peers in partner organizations.
•             Strong organizational skills with an aptitude to get things done.
•             Ability to conceptualize and implement communication tools.
•             Creativity and flexibility with a solution-oriented approach.
•             Knowledge of sustainability and seafood issues an advantage.
•             Flexible travel availability.
