Protect priority species

WWF works to preserve priority species in viable populations throughout the Lower Mekong Dry Forest Ecoregion.

In the Dry Forests, the most immediate threat to many priority species is wildlife trade. Awareness and education programs about the wildlife trade and its negative ecological and long-term economic impacts are an important first step.

Target audiences include local communities, government officials, the private sector, and the general public. Study tours for government officials to successful and inspirational national parks in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka or South Africa are being organized to show that protecting wildlife can provide economic benefits through eco-tourism.
