Species found in the Lower Mekong Dry Forests Ecoregion
Haven for many animals
Large mammals that have been pushed to the brink of extinction elsewhere have a chance at life in the dry forests. Threatened and endangered mammals such as the Asian elephant, banteng, gaur, and tiger are found here.
Dholes, large cats and leopards join the tiger as the region's key large predators.
Nearly 500 bird species live or pass through the area, including the threatened Bengal florican, greater adjutant, and the critically endangered white-shouldered and giant ibises.
