Under the Sea, into the Coral Triangle

Want to dive the Coral Triangle without leaving your seat? Here’s the ticket.

Under the Sea 3D, a new IMAX® 3D adventure, takes you to some of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on Earth, including Southern Australia and the Coral Triangle.

Produced with help from WWF, the film brings you images that fly off the screen and float around you. You don’t just watch Under the Sea—you live it.
Come face-to-face with some of the most mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea. Float over breathtaking coral landscapes. And learn how climate change threatens the destruction of these wonders.

Wait a minute—what’s the Coral Triangle?

Picture a vast expanse of tropical ocean, islands, nations and peoples in the Indo-Pacific region, united by a joint natural heritage: 75% of all known coral species, 6 of the 7 marine turtle species, and more than 3,000 species of fish.

That’s the Coral Triangle, one of WWF’s highest priorities for conservation. Want more? Check out the Coral Triangle websection.

WWF on location Under the Sea

With extensive knowledge of the Coral Triangle’s secret hideaways, WWF and other individuals helped director Howard Hall find the best shooting locations to film Under the Sea.

WWF also provided input on the film’s sequence and content, especially with regards to the acidification of oceans through climate change.
