WWF and Canon announce photo contest in Ukraine
“All our actions affect the environment, but we rarely notice how we are changing nature around us”, said Katya Kurakina, Communications Officer at WWF in Ukraine. “Many Ukrainians are not even familiar with the animals that inhabit our steppes, forests and rivers. We are hoping that photographers out there will take out their cameras and uncover the beauty of the animal kingdom. This is a unique opportunity for photographers to show their definition of beauty and share it with others”, Kurakina said.
To participate in the contest, photographers need to upload their photographs of wild animals, add captions and add brief descriptions of why it is important to protect wildlife.
Participants will have the opportunity to win gifts from Canon and WWF - for the best pictures and for the best captions. Those who do not participate in the competition, can just enjoy the photos and cast their vote. The photographer whose work gets the most votes will receive a "People's Choice Award."
The photo contest will run from November 19 to December 16, 2012.
Canon has supported WWF’s work for many years, financially contributing to wildlife conservation and environmental protection. Canon recognize their social responsibility outside the scope of their business, and support WWF’s vision to stop the depletion of the planet's natural resources and to create a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
