Our Core Values

Long-term and large-scale commitments, both political and financial, are necessary to achieving development that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. WWF’s partnerships with the public sector are thus key to ensuring a future in which people and nature thrive. These core values guide our engagements with our public sector partners.

Conservation must be integrated with people's livelihoods and contribute to poverty reduction.

WWF believes that for conservation to be effective, it must be fully integrated with the needs and aspirations of people at all levels and from all walks of life.

A commitment to partnership with governments, civil society and the private sector.

Every sector of society is directly concerned with environment issues, each in a different way. WWF maintains an active dialogue as well as partnerships with a wide range of actors.

Strong involvement of stakeholders in the identification of problems and solutions.

WWF seeks to empower all people – particularly the most vulnerable – to actively participate in the sustainable governance of natural resources, and to try and effect changes in policy frameworks at all levels to protect and sustain life on Earth.

WWF recognizes that countries have development interests at the same time as they have ecosystems that need to be protected. WWF is capable of bringing this together.... I believe this is one of the strengths of our partnership.
